Would you like something to feel good about that's not connected with politics? This is not earth shaking to the world, America and to most people but it sure is fun.
Just to catch you if you haven't been following it Floyd Landis had the Yellow jersey and looked like he was on his way to taking it into Paris for the win.
He even held it in the first big mountain stage in the Alps over the monster l'Alpe d'Huez. He looked awesome. The next day was considered the hardest day of the tour with 4 huge climbs and 2 HC - beyond category - climbs and the final new climb up La Toussuire and he was still riding great.
Then disaster struck with 18k to go - he bonked like a boat anchor and fell off the lead and the race dropping 10 minutes and not back in total 8:08 from the lead. This in normally considered unbeatable in tour history and everyone was looking to see who would win the tour now.
Today is the final big mountain stage and soon after the start a group of riders took off as is normal. They got a lead of around 6 minutes. Then Floyd took off and not only caught them and caught the leader up a minute or so and taken the lead in today's stage.
Here's the incredible part: HE IS NOW IN THE VIRTUAL LEAD OF THE TOUR! He's up by almost a minute with the final very steep climb Col de Joux-Plane.
This is one for the ages.
